Opening on May 27, 2011, Cheetah Hunt is a world-class steel “launch” coaster that serves as the centerpiece of the Edge of Africa section at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Manufactured by Intamin, the ride is unique for its triple-launch system, utilizing Linear Synchronous Motors (LSM) to propel trains at speeds of up to 60 mph. Standing 102 feet tall, the 4,429-foot course was designed to mimic the movements of a cheetah sprinting across the savanna, featuring a signature “Windcatcher Tower” that rises high above the park before plunging into a rocky trench. The experience includes a heartline roll inversion and several low-to-the-ground maneuvers that weave over and under the park’s Skyride cables and through the historic Serengeti Plain.
