Opening on June 17, 2016, Cobra’s Curse is a one-of-a-kind steel spinning coaster located in the Egypt section of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Manufactured by Mack Rides, the attraction is famous for its unique elevator lift, which raises the trains vertically to a height of 70 feet while placing riders face-to-face with an 80-foot-tall icon of the snake king, Venymyss. Reaching speeds of 40 mph, the 2,100-foot track features three distinct phases: a forward-facing section, a backward-facing segment, and a final free-spinning finale where the rotation of the car is determined by the weight distribution of the riders. The ride is heavily themed around an ancient Egyptian archaeological dig and features an air-conditioned queue with a live snake exhibit, showcasing several species including Jameson’s Mambas and Angolan Pythons.
