Opening on March 11, 2022, Iron Gwazi is a record-breaking “hyper-hybrid” roller coaster that stands as the crown jewel of Busch Gardens Tampa Bay’s thrill lineup. Manufactured by Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC), the ride is a complete reimagining of the park’s former wooden dueling coaster, Gwazi, utilizing a steel I-Box track on the original wooden support structure. Standing 206 feet tall with a harrowing 91-degree vertical drop, it is the tallest, fastest, and steepest hybrid coaster in North America, reaching a top speed of 76 mph. The 4,075-foot course is themed after the apex predator of the Everglades—the crocodile—and features a relentless series of maneuvers including two inversions and 12 points of airtime.
