Cedar Point

Established 1870

Widely regarded as the “Roller Coaster Capital of the World,” Cedar Point is a 364-acre peninsula resort in Sandusky, Ohio, that first opened in 1870 as a simple public bathing beach and beer garden. Over its 150-plus year history, it has transformed from a lakefront getaway into a global thrill destination, operating as an independent resort until the formation of Cedar Fair, L.P. (1983–2024) and its subsequent merger into the new Six Flags (2024–Present). The park’s growth is defined by a series of “world-first” milestones, from the debut of the park’s first coaster, the Switchback Railway in 1892, to the introduction of the first “hypercoaster” (Magnum XL-200) and “giga coaster” (Millennium Force). Today, the park features a world-class lineup of 19 roller coasters—including the newly debuted Siren’s Curse tilt coaster and the reimagined Top Thrill 2—alongside its historic Hotel Breakers and the Cedar Point Shores water park.
