Opening on June 17, 1978, Gemini is a massive racing hybrid coaster that stands as one of the most high-capacity and enduring classics at Cedar Point. Designed by Ron Toomer and manufactured by Arrow Dynamics, it features a unique “steel track on wooden structure” design, standing 125 feet tall and reaching speeds of 60 mph. The ride is famous for its “dueling” nature, where Red and Blue trains race side-by-side through a series of airtime hills and 180-degree helices, often allowing riders on opposing trains to exchange “high-fives” during the curves. At the time of its debut, it was marketed as the tallest, fastest, and steepest roller coaster in the world, and while it has since been surpassed by the park’s giga and strata coasters, it remains a beloved “bridge” attraction for its smooth ride and competitive thrill.
