Opening on May 7, 1994, Raptor is a high-capacity steel inverted coaster that redefined the Cedar Point midway and set multiple world records upon its debut. Manufactured by Bolliger & Mabillard, it was the first inverted coaster to feature a “cobra roll” and held titles for being the tallest (137 feet), fastest (57 mph), and longest in its class at the time. Replacing the Mill Race log flume, the ride sends guests through six inversions—including a 100-foot vertical loop and two corkscrews—all while seated in floorless trains that simulate the predatory flight of a bird of prey. Now a legendary “ACE Roller Coaster Landmark,” it remains famous for its aggressive, forceful finale and its iconic “roaring” sound as the trains traverse the 3,790 feet of bright green track.
