Opening on May 10, 1979, as Jr. Gemini, Wilderness Run is the quintessential “first coaster” for young riders at Cedar Point, specifically designed to introduce children to the world-class thrill of the park. Manufactured by Intamin, the ride stands 19 feet tall and reaches a gentle top speed of 15 mph over 443 feet of steel track. Following the transformation of the surrounding area into the Planet Snoopy kids’ zone, the ride was renamed and re-themed in 2014 to fit the new rugged, outdoor aesthetic. Despite its modest stats, it remains a sentimental favorite for generations of visitors, serving as a rite of passage before they graduate to its massive “racing” neighbor, Gemini.
