Opening on May 8, 2013, Freedom Flyer is a smooth steel suspended family coaster that serves as a high-visibility anchor for the front of Fun Spot America Orlando. Manufactured by Vekoma (a 342m Suspended Family Coaster model), the ride stands 64 feet tall and reaches a top speed of 34 mph over 1,122 feet of vibrant American-flag-themed yellow and blue track. Featuring floorless trains that swing out slightly on the turns, the layout includes a series of spiraling helices and quick dips that take riders directly over the park’s entrance and main pedestrian walkways. In 2016, the attraction became one of the first in Florida to offer an optional Virtual Reality (VR) experience, allowing riders to wear headsets that synced the physical movements of the coaster with a digital flight through a prehistoric or futuristic landscape.
