Opening on June 8, 2013, White Lightning is the flagship wooden coaster at Fun Spot America Orlando and famously served as the first wooden roller coaster ever built in the city of Orlando. Manufactured by Great Coasters International (GCI), the ride features a unique “hybrid” construction—utilizing a traditional wooden track on a permanent steel support structure to ensure a smoother ride and lower maintenance. Standing 70 feet tall with a top speed of 44 mph, the 2,032-foot “L-shaped” out-and-back layout is packed with a relentless series of “bunny hills,” a 90-degree banked turn, and a “double-up, double-down” element. Despite its compact size, the ride is a favorite among enthusiasts for its high-speed pacing and surprising “airtime,” further enhanced in 2020 when a section of the course was outfitted with Titan Track, a specialized steel track designed to provide an ultra-smooth experience in high-stress areas.
