In 2025, the world-renowned Storm Chaser was officially renamed Wind Chaser to serve as the anchor attraction for Kentucky Kingdom’s new Discovery Meadow land. Originally opening on April 30, 2016, this Rocky Mountain Construction (RMC) masterpiece was the first in the world to be built using a combination of existing wooden supports and the patented steel I-Box track. The ride is famous for its “Barrel Roll Downdrop,” which sends riders into a 78-degree plunge and a heartline roll immediately after cresting the 100-foot lift hill. Reaching speeds of 52 mph, the course includes multiple overbanked turns and a total of two inversions, all while maintaining the intense “ejector” airtime that RMC is known for. The 2025 re-theme shifted the ride’s narrative from a chaotic storm to the graceful, predatory flight of an owl, aligning with the park’s new focus on immersive, story-driven family environments under Herschend Family Entertainment.
