Dominating the park’s Action Zone, Banshee opened in 2014 as the world’s longest inverted roller coaster, boasting a massive 4,124 feet of track. Built on the former site of the infamous Son of Beast, the ride is themed after the wailing female spirit of Irish folklore, complete with a chilling scream that echoes as the train crests the 167-foot lift hill. Unlike traditional coasters, Banshee’s layout utilizes the natural terrain to its advantage, causing the train to reach its maximum speed of 68 mph halfway through the course rather than at the first drop. Riders are suspended beneath the track in state-of-the-art vest restraints as they rocket through seven intense inversions—including a massive dive loop, a zero-G roll, and the rare pretzel knot—before finishing with a slow, heart-pounding inline twist.
