Tucked away in the rear of the Action Zone, the currently operating version of The Bat is a steel suspended coaster that serves as a high-speed tribute to the park’s history. Originally opened in 1993 as Top Gun (and later known as Flight Deck), the ride was renamed in 2014 to honor the park’s original 1980s prototype. As one of the few remaining Arrow Dynamics suspended coasters in the world, it features floorless cars that hang below the track, allowing them to swing freely at angles up to 45 degrees. After ascending a 78-foot lift hill, the train reaches speeds of 51 mph, swooping through a dense forest and navigating a series of unbanked turns and a massive horseshoe element. The sensation of the cars swinging out over the treetops creates a unique, rhythmic “flight” experience that remains a distinct favorite for those looking for a thrill without the intensity of inversions.
