Sprawling across 35 acres of dense Ohio woodland in the Rivertown section, The Beast has reigned as a legend of the amusement park world since its debut in 1979. It continues to hold the Guinness World Record as the longest wooden roller coaster in the world, featuring a massive 7,361-foot layout that is largely hidden from the rest of the park. The experience is a true “terrain coaster,” using the natural hills and gullies to build speed as it rockets through three tunnels and two massive lift hills. The ride reaches speeds of 65 mph and is famous for its thunderous, 540-degree double helix finale that exerts intense lateral forces. While it is a must-ride during the day, it is most famous for its legendary night rides, where the lack of lighting in the woods makes the four-minute-plus journey feel like a relentless, high-speed dash through total darkness.
