Voted “Best New Ride” in the world upon its debut in 2017, Mystic Timbers is a high-speed wooden coaster that brings modern precision to the park’s Rivertown section. Built by Great Coasters International, the ride sends guests on a frantic, out-and-back journey through the dense Ohio woods, reaching a top speed of 53 mph and featuring a staggering 16 airtime moments across its 3,265 feet of track. The experience is themed around the mysterious Miami River Lumber Company, where nature has reclaimed an abandoned facility, leading to a ride that feels low-to-the-ground, exceptionally smooth, and relentlessly fast. However, it is most famous for its viral marketing campaign, “#WhatsInTheShed”, which culminates in a randomized finale where the train enters a dark, vine-covered building. Inside, riders encounter one of three possible “monsters”—a giant snake, a swarm of bats, or a possessed tree—accompanied by 80s music and special effects before returning to the station.
