Big Thunder Mountain Railroad

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is a steel “runaway mine train” roller coaster in Frontierland at Magic Kingdom, featuring three separate lift hills and a top speed of 36 mph. Manufactured by Arrow Dynamics, the attraction has a 40-inch height requirement and takes riders through a 2,780-foot desert landscape inspired by Monument Valley. The ride is part of a multi-year refurbishment involving a complete track replacement and a total overhaul of its internal systems. This update includes the addition of a reimagined Rainbow Caverns opening scene with phosphorescent pools and iridescent stalactites, as well as refreshed Audio-Animatronics and gold-mining props throughout the mountain.
