Super Grover's Box Car Derby
Super Grover’s Box Car Derby is the primary family-friendly coaster in SeaWorld Orlando’s Sesame Street Land, designed as an “entry-level” experience for younger children. Originally opened in 2006 as the Shamu Express, the ride was completely reimagined and renamed in 2019 to fit the vibrant, interactive theme of the new Sesame Street area. Manufactured by Zierer, the steel coaster features a long, 28-passenger train that takes riders on a 31-foot tall journey filled with gentle hills, swooping turns, and “mini-dives” that simulate a soapbox derby race. With a low height requirement of 38 inches, it is often a child’s very first “big” roller coaster experience, offering just enough speed (roughly 28 mph) to be exciting without being overwhelming.
