Whirlwind Racer

Whirlwind Racer was a wooden family roller coaster that operated at Riverside Park from 1928 until 1933. The attraction was added during the park’s early 20th-century prosperity to complement the larger Lightning coaster, offering a more moderate thrill for families and younger guests. Like many of the park’s early wooden structures, it did not survive the economic challenges of the Great Depression and the park’s temporary closure in the mid-1930s, eventually being dismantled before the facility was revitalized in 1940.
